Replication between FalconStor CDPVA

Replication between FalconStor CDPVA

Please refer to the steps below on how to Enable Replication between FalconStor CDPVA in Production & DR Site

  1. Ensure that both CDPVA (Production & DR) are added in the FalconStor Management Console

  2. Right click on the SAN Resource that you would like to replicate to DR Site and select Replication –> Enable
    CDPVA-Replication-01

  3. Click Next
    CDPVA-Replication-02

  4. Select the CDPVA in the DR Site
    CDPVA-Replication-03

  5. Enter the IP Address or Hostname of the CDPVA in DR Site – Ensure that the CDPVA in Production is able to communicate with CDPVA in DR to avoid any issues
    CDPVA-Replication-04

  6. Check Use Existing TimeMark to use the existing TimeMark to sync to Replica Disk
    CDPVA-Replication-05

  7. Configure the Replication Schedule
    CDPVA-Replication-06

  8. Enable Compress Data & MicroScan to optimize the replication traffics
    CDPVA-Replication-07

  9. Enable Use Thin Provisioning to save Disk Space in CDPVA in DR Site
    CDPVA-Replication-08

  10. Select the StoragePool created in CDPVA
    CDPVA-Replication-09

  11. Accept the default Replicate Disk Name or Modify it for ease of identification
    CDPVA-Replication-10

  12. Click Finish
    CDPVA-Replication-11

  13. Create the Snapshot Resources for the Replica Disk
    CDPVA-Replication-12

  14. Click Next
    CDPVA-Replication-13

  15. Select the StoragePool in CDPVA in DR Site for Snapshot Resource
    CDPVA-Replication-14

  16. Specify the initial Disk Space allocated for Snapshot Resource ** It can be shrink later to reduce the disk space
    CDPVA-Replication-15

  17. Click YES
    CDPVA-Replication-16

  18. Click Next
    CDPVA-Replication-17

  19. Click Next to accept the default value – Snapshot Resource will be increased by 20% of Disk Space if it required more space
    CDPVA-Replication-18

  20. Select Preserve All TimeMarks and Enable MicroScan
    CDPVA-Replication-19

21.Click Finish to complete the replication
CDPVA-Replication-20

  1. Click OK
    CDPVA-Replication-21

  2. Right Click on the SAN Resource and select Synchronize to manually start the replication
    CDPVA-Replication-23

  3. Go to Replication –> Outgoing to monitor the replication progress and it will take sometime to finish depend on how large the data is and the Bandwidth assigned for replication traffic
    CDPVA-Replication-22

  4. Login to the CDPVA in DR Site, and Enable TimeMark for the replica disk to allow TimeMark to be used for TimeView
    CDPVA-Replication-24

Monitor and ensure that the replication is completed successfully
