Initial Configuration of KEMP LoadMaster VM
Steps to perform initial configuration of KEMP LoadMaster VM (Virtual Appliance) on ESXi 6.7 Host
- Register and download Kemp Free LoadMaster
Some limitation on Free LoadMaster
- 20Mbps L7 throught
- 50 Transactions Per Seconds (TPS) 2K SSL Keys
- No firmware update
- Extract and upload the OVF file to ESXi 6.7 Hosts.
Minimum 2 x vCPU, 2GB RAM and 16GB (Thin Provisioning) HDD is required for Free LoadMaster
- Power On the Free LoadMaster, and enter the default username & password, bal and 1fourall to perform initial configuration of
- IP Address – 192.168.1.222/24
- Gateway – 192.168.1.1
- DNS Server – 192.168.1.200 (AD/DNS Server)
- HTTP Proxy – NONE
- Click Yes to continue the configuration via https://192.168.1.222 (Web Interface)
- Login with default username & password, and enter the email address you registered in Step 1
- Select Free LoadMaster – 1 available
If the LoadMaster cannot contact the Kemp licensing service at all in a period of 30 days, the LoadMaster stops load balancing, that is, the Virtual Services are stopped
- Reset the default password
- Login using bal and the new password to access to the default dashboard
Initial Configuration of KEMP LoadMaster VM
Date/Time
Go to System Configuration – System Administration – Date/Time and enter the correct Time Zone, Date & time and NTP Host (Optional)
Hostname
Go to System Configuration – Host & DNS Configuration to change the default host name
Replace the default Self Sign SSL Certificate
Go to Certificate & Security – SSL Certificate – Import Certificate and upload the our Wildcard SSL Certificate (aventislab.pfx)
Assign the Public SSL Certificate imported as Administrative Certificates for Web Interface. Click Use Certificate to apply the changes
Public SSL Certificate is used when login via https://kemp.aventislab.com now
Import Let’s Encrypt Intermediate Certificate

Copy the contents of Let’s Encrtpt Intermediate Certifcate and save it to C:\temp\LetsEncrypt_Intermediate.cer

Go to Certificate & Security – Intermediate Certs and upload the C:\temp\LetsEncrypt_Intermediate.cer to Kemp VM
Custom Management Port
Change the Default Management Port from 443 to 10443 in Certificate & Security – Remote Access and click Set Administrative Access to save the setting
Appendix
Reset to Factory Default
Login to KEMP Console and go to 7. Utilities – 1. Software Upgrade – 3. Reset to Factory Default

Reset Forgotten Password
Login to KEMP Console with username = pwreset , and password = 1pwreset to reset the bal password to default 1fourall
